[UPDATED: Event Is Tomorrow!] Jaime Hernandez, Author of the Love and Rockets Comic Book Series, to Speak at the Fullerton Public Library Next Thursday!
ORIGINAL POST, FEB. 17, 1:27 P.M.: Last fall, I was invited to the Miami Book Fair, one of the largest in the United States--not to speak about my books, but rather to interview one of my favorite writers: Jaime Hernandez, one of the brothers behind the legendary Love and Rockets comic book series, which revolutionized the genre during the 1980s with their take on punk life in Reagan's America. It was an honor to do it. Hernandez apparently enjoyed our conversation, because when I asked his publishers if he'd be willing to be part of my "Gustavo's Awesome Lecture Series!" at the Fullerton Public Library, he agreed.
Details after the jump!
The whole series is sponsored by the Cal State Fullerton Department of Chicano and Chicana Studies (where I'm a lecturer), the Fullerton Public Library, and the awesome Hibbleton Gallery. For Hernandez's fans: This is going to be his only public appearance until ComicCon; for those who have never heard of Hernandez, he nails the human condition like no one since Joyce. See you next week!
