Like Crazy, Indie Drama From OC's Drake Doremus and Ben York Jones, Wins Sundance Grand Jury Prize

Like Crazy, the little indie darling at Sundance by former Santa Anan and second-time U.S. Dramatic Competition entrant Drake Doremus, won the prestigious film festival's grand jury prize last night.

Co-written by Doremus and his childhood friend Ben York Jones, a Chapman University film school grad who has been blogging from Park City, Utah, for the Weekly, the film is about two lovers (Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin) dealing with a romance separated by the Atlantic Ocean.

OC-bred filmmaker Drake Doremus is ecstatic upon winning the grand jury drama prize at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Times, which kicked the buzz for the movie into high gear with film critic Ken Turan's glowing story from the festival co-founded by Robert Redford, features a photo of Doremus taking a swig of champagne while holding his prize here.

Hours after Like Crazy had its world premiere in Park City, the ink dried on a sale agreement with Paramount Pictures.

Jones had promised in his last Navel Gazing post to file at least one more report from Sundance. We'll confirm that once we locate him on Cloud Nine.

All the Sundance competition winners are here.
