David Araya, Recently Retired Laguna Hills High Spanish Teacher (Another!), Accused of Sex Crimes With a Student

Never during my years at LHHS, would I have thought Araya to be in any sort of way, "sexually" active with a student. That would be my last thing imaginable that may occur. As his former student, graduating in 2011, for my junior/senior year, he was my club advisor for a Christian, religious group. I always thought of him as a preach-like figure during class. However, what I learned is, I guess is that NOTHING is ever what it seems to be... This man is paying for his consequences now, and may the school also be aware of prospective teacher-student relationships. Overall, the most innocent of facades lies the most harmful, and deceiving as well!

Kind of sad to hear this. Was looking at a couple of old Laguna Hills High School teachers, and put his name on Google. He did preach morals and always said he grew up in a ghetto, so he would really harass any kids that seemed gangster-like.

Had him for Spanish for 2 years. But, as a grad from 2006, and after seeing his mugshot which was how I found this from Google images, I am surprised.

So Araya took a plea bargain, pleading guilty to all 5 counts. Looks like he had enough of a conscious left to stop lying about it.

Did it even occur to you guys that she had fault in this also? it was said that her reputation is most def. NOT the best. Yes that doesnt excuse of what Araya did but she kept it going. Poor girl my ass. Where were the parents?? Where are her morals??? Yes, 57 to 16 is sick but at age 16, 20 or 35, She's still going to be EASY. She's just as sick!

Rosalinda do you know what happened with Sr. Araya after his arraignment? I am curious as to the fate of my former spanish teacher due to the fact that I had him as a spanish 3 teacher his last year before his arrest. I always saw him as a good man and a mentor if a bit of a hardass. He was the best spanish teacher I've ever had and always preached religious morals to us dailey. He went on missions for his church to latin American countries and for that I admired him inspite the fact that I myself am an atheist. To be honest I looked up to Sr. Araya and held him with high respect. When I learned of the alleged relationship between him and a girl I knew I was extremely shocked and defended his innocence until proven guilty. I simply wish to know his fate as a former student and friend. Please reply ASAP.Thank you.

i attended laguna Hills High School and i must say im surprised; surprised that any girl would even touch this dude. My friends had him for spanish and liked him and his teaching methods, good thing they didnt stay "After hours" huh? This is true. My brother goes to her school and she would always brag about going to Arayas room during lunch time to get tutored. One time, her friend came to visit her during her tutor session and the room was locked.
