I don't really go to movies anymore, but I don't think Toy Story 3 is on anyone's short list of nominees for the Academy Award for Best Picture, even with its expanded roster--it's a cartoon*! [Editor's note: Actually, it is on several people's short list for the award, and Disney is actively campaigning for it.][Editor's note note: See the asterisk below.] But that isn't stopping UNITE HERE Local 11, the union representing the Disneyland Resort's hotel workers in a bitter labor dispute, from protesting a screening of the film tonight at the Disney studios in Burbank and bringing their brilliant guerrilla protests (where people dress up as Disney characters) to the House of Mouse.
Video by Unite Here appropriating Toy Story imagery for its cause after the jump!
*Oh, and if I didn't make myself clear earlier, my first sentence was a joke. The first commentator got it; the second, not so much. I still say the Fleischer brothers should've had the success Disney had...

Get back to work and be glad you have work, you lazy dolts
What bothers me a lot about this video is that several kids have to speak for their parents because their parents don't know a lick of English. You're working in the United States!! Learn English!! My dad and uncle did!! It's not that hard!! We have to know your language so learn ours!!
And this union really needs to stop their complaining. They have jobs and health care and some people just want a job!!
Wow such hatred! You should be mad at Disney for adding to poverty and making tax payers foot the bill. If these workers lose their health insurance guess where they have to go for medical care? If you guessed medicare you are absolutely right. Guess what, you'll be footing the bill! Keep fighting for Disney to get richer while the screw their long time workers.
@Thomas so if Disney is such a wonderful place to work, why are you not there anymore?
Keep the poor divided and while they fight over crumbs, the robber barons of the world continue to pillage our resources for their own personal gain.
Gustavo is just pissed that the cartoon characters are smarter than the stupid Mexicans the union represents.
I was a Cast Member of the Disneyland Resort for ten years (2000-2010) and came in frequent contact with the UNITE HERE Local 11 protesters. The hotel worker's union and their protesters are scum. They lost my support long ago due to there strong arm and shady tactics. Frankly I believe they should be fired and replaced. This latest tactic concerning Toy Story 3 is a joke to say the least.
For 10 years I was a Cast Memebr of the Disneyland Resort (2000-2010). The hotel union and these protesters are scum. They need to get back to work and stop there so called "brilliant guerrilla protests". They lost my support long ago due to their shady practices and frankly I believe they should be fired. I would cross the line and take their jobs just to spite them.
Be thankful you have a job...mine was "severed", and let me tell you, after being in the workforce over 30 years, unemployment SUCKS!
@Editor: Get him!
Stupid workers demanding to be treated with dignity. Know your place and do what you betters tell you and thank them that for your jobs!
Liz: Um, they're doing this on their free time, so you can hate this article all you want, but you can at least get the facts right.
If the protesters want to wave signs against Toy Story 3 instead of go to work, myself and others will gladly take their jobs. People are CRAVING work right now and you're bitching about the Academy Awards because you don't like your working conditions?! Now I want your job even more. If it's that easy that you have time to bitch about the Oscars, you must need the security of union protection simply because ANYONE can do your job.
Evidently, shit isn't so bad that you're willing to quit because you're STILL working without a contract. Do what the rest of us are doing in the recession and deal.
What are those greedy union workers bitching about now? Shut up and get back to work. This article sucks.
Spencer: HA!
Anon: It's a JOKE.
What ignorance! Why does it being animated immediately mean it can't be the best picture. Get off your high horse, and pull that stick out of your ass! I don't think this was the best picture, but it has nothing to do with its format.
No way man. Toy Story 3 is definitely on rosters for best picture. Caused a lot of crying. Not that I'd know.
