• I'm born and raised in OC, but this guy has the typical OC "Im the most important person on the planet" attitude. Does he forget he writes for a free magazine that mostly gets used as a bums toilet paper? Go get a real job and stop worrying about Bush. As a OIF vet I'll be the first to say who cares why we went to war, the fact is in the process we liberated millions of people.

• James, Let me take a crack at solving your riddle.... mmm, is it Santa Ana? But, all kidding aside, your point does make sense. Ever since REgan, we've had president's who have taken us down the wrong path, be it financially or militarily. Israel will likely come out squeaky clean despite its past actions. But chances are Iran will nuke it before they pop open a champagne bottle.

• All due respect to bloggers and readers on this site, but the time is now to stop thinking of political realities as: Left/Right, Liberal/Conservative, Republican/Democrat, Socialist/Capitalist, and the like. We all know that our first incursion into Iraq occurred under President George H. W. Bush in 1991. During the Presidency of William Jefferon Clinton, the US regularly bombed Iraq's 33rd parallel and sanctioned an embargo into the country which resulted, it is believed, in the deaths of over 400,000 Iraqui children. Under President George W. Bush, we are all familiar with that piece of history, and President "Mr. Change We Can Believe In" has shown himself just as lousy. It's time to take a cold hard look at the chief beneficiary of this shameful venture in Iraq and the upcoming head-to-head combat with Iran. It's a small country, which will remain nameless, but with which you are called all manner of impolite things if you dare oppose anything they say or do.

• Hey Drew: They are plenty of bad guys hanging around the planet. Bush picked Saddam because he wanted to show Sr. he'd finally become a man. Pity Sr. didn't pull out of Barbara as fast as he pulled out of Iraq.

• Hey Dr. John what's your PHD in? Chemical Engineering? Business management? Religion? That would certainly make you an expert in foreign policy. I would guess that you would be a choice for the Discovery Institute to be pulled in as one of their PHDs to "support" their non-case against evolution. Pres. Bush gives me the impression of being a personable guy who actually is earnest in his statements, however, to possibly misquote, "just because you say it with passion doesn't necessarily make it so". On another issue, anyone have any idea how much of the book was actually penned by Pres. Bush? Was it a largely ghost-write?

• We were at Bush's talk last night. He was surprisingly funny. He had the opportunity to explain why he thought he had a good read on Putin...and I think it was a compelling argument. It was comforting to know that a good and just man lead our country and rid the world of Saddam Hussein.

• 20ftJesus, Actually, given that all but one of the 9/11 hijackers was from Saudi Arabia, THAT is the country that should have come under serious consideration for military action. But when it comes to Iran, what exactly would be the pretext for declaring war against Iran? What have they done to us that would justify an invasion? Remember...Iran is a Shiite dominated nation and Bin Laden is Sunni. Iran really doesn't anything to do with him and al Qaeda. And we can't really invade every country that "supports terrorists"...we'd be involved militarily in countless nations if that's the rationale.

• The whole debacle was about Jr. one-upping Sr. Indeed, he went after the wrong country. Iran has always been the bigger threat to stability in the region. Considering the Bush clan is deeply involved with the Saudi monarchy (see Bandar Bush) it's unthinkable that they choose to invade Iraq vs. Iran.

• You're absolutely right to highlight Shrub and his administration's COMPLETE lack of understanding of Sunni/Shiite dynamics in the region. To say that invading Iraq strengthened Iran just might be the understatement of the century.

• Bash jobs? Guess facts don't mean much to some people. Everything in this piece is factual and accurate. Bush lied, and there's proof. It's a fact. A fact that has cost countless Iraqi civilians and American soldiers their lives. He shouldn't even be welcome at a church, since all he did as "president" was lie, cheat, steal, and wreak endless death and destruction on people in Afghanistan and Iraq.
