What Do You Get When You Mix Dodgeball and Homeless Kids?

​Since Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story hit movie theaters in 2004, the once forgotten childhood game has made a comeback.  In September, a dodgeball world record was set at UC Irvine.

Perhaps hoping to steal some collegiate thunder, Cal State Fullerton is holding an event where dodgeballs will be chucked at homeless youths.

Check that: balls will be chucked to benefit homeless youths.

​Orange County adults and children are invited to "dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge" in Outreach Communications' first ever dodgeball tournament Saturday at CSUF. The event is headed by the nonprofit organization Stand Up for Kids, founded in 1990 to help rescue homeless and at-risk youth. Stand Up for Kids is eager to create a place of rest where visitors can do laundry and receive counseling and assistance to help usher them into adulthood and independence.

Game time is noon Saturday and the public is invited to watch. The registration fee is $5 per player (6 players per team).  General admission is $5.

Besides balls flying and bodies dodging, the event includes live performances and an opportunity giveaway.
