Zombies of Mass Destruction is Not the Gayest Film Screening on Fourth Street Tonight

Right in the middle of the The Center in Long Beach-sponsored Q Films LGBT festival--which began Thursday and continues through Sunday in Long Beach--is a horror flick that includes a gay couple fighting zombies.

But Mondo Celluloid's presentation of Zombies of Mass Destruction at 11:30 tonight at the Art Theatre is not part of Q Films and festival passes cannot be used for admission (although The Center will gladly take donations from attendees).

Taking cues from America's current political, religious and cultural clashes, Zombies of Mass Destruction is set in the idyllic island town of Port Gamble, which is overrun with brain-eaters. Traditional zombie thriller stereotypes are honored and mocked in director Kevin Hamedani's flick.

Here's the film's website: zmdthemovie.com.

Here's where you can buy tickets online: arttheatrelongbeach.com. (Go to the Art's 9:20 p.m. showing of The Social Network to create a brain-eating zombie double bill!)

Q Films continues at 5 p.m. at The Center with Thy Will Be Done, Alice Bouvrie's documentary about male-to-female transsexual Sara Herwig's path to ordination in the Presbyterian Church. A Q&A session follows the screening.

Here is the film's website: mineralkingproductions.com.

A "Men in Briefs" short film program screens at The Center at 5 and 9 p.m.

The Center is at 2017 E. Fourth St., Long Beach, which is just down the street from the Art Theatre (2025 E. Fourth St.) For details on Q Films tickets, other screenings or anything else, go to thecenterlb.org.
