On Saturday morning, the Interfaith Blessing of the Animals took place at Marine Stadium in Long Beach.
All sorts of animals turned up--dogs, cats, porcupines, horses, pigs, birds of prey, foxes... you know, the usual.
Later, the Chihuahua Beauty Contest happened, as chihuahuas and their owners strutted their stuff down the catwalk.

On Sunday, Newport Beach Chamber's 49th Annual Sandcastle Contest took place at the Corona del Mar State Beach. All participants had three and a half hours to carefully construct their sand creations. See the images here.
Also on Sunday: the Japan America Kite Festival in Seal Beach. Photographer Keith May reports that grey skies and a lack of wind failed to ground spirits. See the pics here.
On Friday night, Day One of Gay Days Anaheim, Wonderland took place at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. The night benefitted the Trevor Project and the lovely Rose McGowan hosted the VIP Lounge. DJ Ray Rhodes entertained and Momma hosted. There was a costume contest (winners: Alice and the White Rabbit!). See all the images here.
On Saturday, Gay Days Anaheim then made its way to Disneyland, where participants donned red shirts and enjoyed the day. Click here for the slideshow.
