• Please, GA, stop repeating this ridiculous lie that Loretta has passed only one bill. It is false and reveals a sad ignorance of her work and the way Congress passes laws. In the debate last week, Loretta creamed Tran. That's why I'm voting for her. She had the facts and a clear, detailed legislative agenda. Tran sat there and regurgitated generalized GOP talking points, without any substance, facts or insight. He refused to deny his horrible voting record, his support for privatizing (and destroying) social security, or his support for incarceration and deportation of undocumented aliens. He stumbled badly over the English language ("talks is cheap"), he was obsessed with his "important" crusade against teleprompters (devoted half of his second opening to that), he called himself a "child molester," and he repeated the totally false mantra that Loretta has passed one bill in 14 years. He was weak, unprepared and borderline firvolous. His false claim about Loretta's legislative achievements (which are extensive) betrays his total ignorance of the legislative process. Loretta has authored, sonsored and co-sponsored hundreds of bills that became law. Most of them are wrapped into omnibus bills. That's how federal legislation works, but Tran doesn't have a clue. For example, Loretta wrote and pushed through the most sweeping revision of the military code in 50 years. It was, beginning to end, her baby and she won passage of that legislation over considerable opposition from the Pentagon. That law was wrapped into the FY 2007 Nat'l Defense Authorization Act. She's passed inummerable bills. Tran is either a LIAR or ignorant. Neither option makes a good legislator. When asked after the debate about the 14 years and one bill issue, Loretta said it was obvious from her answers that she had played a key part in all of the landmark legislation in the 11th Congress, and didn't think Tran's silly lie was worth commenting on. Then she explained how federal legislation works and how she has collaborated--with Dems and Reps alike--to pas hundreds of pieces of legislation. Tran, on the other hand, has done NOTHING in Sacramento. He has simply sat there (sleeping, as we know) and voted NO on every sensible bill. He voted for off-shore drilling, for privatizing social security (a resolution), against regulation of subprime lenders (thanks for the housing bubble, Tran), against every attempt to regulate dangerous chemicals in the environment, schools and the workplace. He voted to slash education spending at every level and voted against every bill to assist law enforcement in combatting gun violence. He is an opportunist and a patsy of big chemical companies and the NRA, among other special interests. He lost the debate hands down. Loretta outlined a clear and aggressive plan for creating jobs, revitalizing the economy, implementing healthcare and financial reform, and on and on. Tran has nothing except repeal of everything the Democrats are trying to do. That is what got us into the recession and a terrible and unnecessary war in Iraq(which Loretta voted against--despite enormous pressure from Dems and Reps alike). Please, if you have any sense, vote for Loretta. Tran would be a disaster, and the negative and shameful campaign of libel slander about Loretta shows he is the worst kind of career opportunist politician. That's probably because he is a failure as a lawyer.

• From Canada, I follow this race interestingly, as this is one of the closest. It seems to me that Ms. Sanchez is too comfortable on her seat for the last many years that there was not much done for her areas of representation. It might be high time for a change. Mr. Tran seems to be a hard working person, did his homework well, is able to debate without a teleprompter...I'd vote for Mr. Tran ..... from far away in Canada. • I love that there's finally a close race in the 47th Congressional district. Even more than that though, I envy the citizens of the 47th who have the opportunity to vote Liberal Loretta Sanchez off of "Gerrymandered Island." Instead of Loretta Sanchez's usual Harlem Globetrotters verses the Washington Generals kind of re-election where she can stay in her plush DC office or banter with the Hollywood liberals on the Bill Maher Show, this election Representative Sanchez is forced out into the community to defend her positions and try and explain why her votes have helped to produce a 10% unemployment rate and trillions of dollars of new debt. In recent weeks her attempt at damage control has produced nothing more than a self-inflicted case of foot in mouth disease. Voters of the 47th are now learning that Loretta Sanchez has the charm and class of Kanye West at an awards show. I became aware of her lack of tact and decency back in 2001 when Congress voted 410-0 on a bill to extend birthday greetings to ailing former President Ronald Reagan on his 90th birthday. Instead of voting with the 410 other Representatives in the affirmative, Loretta Sanchez voted "present" with seven other petty, mean-spirited, and highly partisan members. Last month, Loretta Sanchez again showed her lack of integrity and two-faces when she spoke to The Orange County Register's editorial board and claimed that she was a "Blue Dog" (conservative) Democrat (OC Register 9-12-10 Commentary). This came as a surprise to me, so I looked up her voting record over the past two years of government expansion and found that Sanchez had voted almost identically with ultra-liberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Voters of the 47th might be shocked to discover that Representative Sanchez's recent voting record with Speaker Pelosi's is 98%, a frequency level higher than several other liberal Congressional stalwarts including: Maxine Waters 93%, Henry Waxman 93%, Shelia Jackson Lee 93%, John Conyers 92%, and Dennis Kucinich 79%. Does anyone other than Hugo Chavez think that Nancy Pelosi or any of these other members are conservative Blue Dog Democrats? Sanchez voted for the $800 billion stimulus package that, like an entree at Denny's, shows up on the table looking nothing like the fabulous picture on the menu. Sanchez then, without reading the 2,400 page bill, merrily danced to Pelosi's puppeteering and voted for Obamacare. So with Loretta's help, the Democrats are now governing like carnival barkers at the Grab Bag booth. "Step right up, step right up, vote for the bill first, and we'll see what's in it later!" The expose of Loretta Sanchez continued last month on Spanish television when she (in muy mal Espanol) claimed that the Vietnamese and Republicans were trying to take her seat. A typical response for a liberal elistist, dividing people by race and claiming ownership of the power temporarily bestowed upon her. Because of her "us" verses "them" comments, Representitive Sanchez is now about as popular with the Vietnamese community as a fly in their Pho. Will the 14-year rein of liberalism in central Orange County end with the fall of Sanchez? Will an evacuation helicopter land on the roof of Loretta's Garden Grove office building on November 2nd and whisk her away to "us" land? One can only hope. Thankfully, the re-election spotlight is finally being shone upon Loretta Sanchez and voters are getting a closer look at who she is and what she has done. Citizens of the 47th are hopefully now discovering what a 14-year embarrassment she has been to this county. I am fully convinced that Van Tran could show up for his swearing-in next year at the Capitol Building wearing nothing but a rainbow wig and an autographed Octomom nursing bra, and still not embarrass us as much as Liberal Loretta has during her tenure
