Have You Seen My Mummy? Costa Mesa Cops Try to Fill in the Gaps in Signe Margit's Life

• I hired Signe as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in Fort Worth, Texas in 1994. She did an excellent job during the six years that I supervised her. She always looked after the needs of her clients with disabilities. She was as honest a person as one could ever meet. In fact, she was the only one who I ever supervised that I gave permission to bring to my attention if she noticed that I was not doing my job as a manager in an appropriate and effective manner. She took me up on that once and I appreciated her for that. I am sorry to hear of her situation and it just goes to show that anything can happen.

• I was stunned when I learned of Signe's passing. She was and will always be, a good friend of mine. I thought of her as a sister. She was kind, caring and loving. A great sense of humor, she could laugh at the follies of life, as well, of her own self. She had the longest eyelashes I've ever seen and a radiant smile. She will be with me in spirit, for the remainder of my life. Bye for now, my dearest friend. Patrice

• Signe was my sister-in-law which we shared the same birthday. She would have been 60 this November 20. She was the kindnest person, selfless to a fault which probably led to her lonely death. She gave everything away to others to help them but not herself. May her spirit live in peace and grace others with her love.

• It breaks my heart that such a lovely lady as Signe had to die this way. If you knew her, you'd only say good things. She was a wonderful, giving, person. She was generous, probably to a fault, and hearing she was homeless and down near Costa Mesa makes me cry. If I'd known, she would be living with me now. She was my FRIEND.

• I was homeless near a decade, Too many disabilities and NO OC shelters take single physically disabled women, esp ones with special needs. (No matter what they say for funding) The VA would provide no help in Orange County . i have the letter state said ok as one vet shelter said no to women. This is where you must stay and try not to get raped, bullied or die. If it wasn't for a few kind souls and Starbucks I'd be dead the long term malnutrition and more has taken a huge additional toll. Maybe this will wake some local people up, someone who could have had a job and a life dies so miserably.

• Dear Matt Coker, I certainly hope nothing this tragic ever happens to someone you love. Your flip, cavalier account of someone else's misfortune is stomach churning. The REAL story here, is how this poor woman fell through the cracks and managed to die in the streets behind the orange curtain. Man up Matt, and become a journalist not a hack.

• I think the snarky comment about Arm & Hammer was very inappropriate. This is clearly not a humorous story.

• Cute piece but what you missed was that are two people, two people that were very down on their luck living in a county full of excess. The CDM woman, though having made a poor decision not to report the dead woman, at least offered her somewhere to sleep. More than can be said for the rest of us. Think there's much more to this story. Hope someone writes it.
