Richard Alan Chaney Gets 9 Years for Pulling "Haidl Maneuver" and Other Sex Acts on Teens
Needless to say, Chaney must also register as a sex offender.
Between May 1 and July 31, 2008, Chaney communicated with a 14-year-old Texas girl via the webcam-based Internet site Stickam.com, where they engaged in sexually explicit conversations and mutual exhibitionism and masturbation. He met her face-to-face on June 30, 2008, while she was in California visiting family. Chaney picked her up at 4 a.m. after she sneaked out of the house, and they went on to engage in oral copulation in his car.
The girl's mother called the multi-agency Orange County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Team investigators on June 2, 2009, to report that her daughter her been sexually assaulted by Chaney. During a search of his home three days later, OC SAFE Team investigators discovered several home-made videos and webcam images depicting Chaney performing sex acts on and with the 14-year-old and the 17-year-old victim.
Subsequent investigation revealed the older teen's identity, that she met Chaney via MySpace and Stickam.com and that he videotaped himself engaging in oral copulation and digital penetration with her while she was unconscious.
Besides the OC SAFE Team, the case was probed by the Orange County District Attorney's Office and United States Attorney's Office. Deputy District Attorney Drew Haughton of the Sexual Assault Unit prosecuted this case.
