Anyone Else Suffering from Real Housewives Overload?

Michael Vulpo poses an interesting questions on Neon Tommy (the USC Annenberg School of Communications and Journalism news site):

Are there too many Real Housewives?

That is, has Bravo's Real Housewives franchise that was born in March 2006 with the premiere of The Real Housewives of Orange County stretched itself too thin?

Who says Orange County's Real Housewives don't have class?
OK, so it's not a question that ranks up there with whether the Israelis should leave their settlements, or even if Cheez Whiz is a food, but in the realm of reality television watchers who constantly must know whether what they are watching has jumped the shark, such brain twisters are critical.

"Are we on Bravo Housewives overload?" Vulpo asks. "Unfortunately, the quick answer is no."

While he called the debut season of The Real Housewives of [Washington,] D.C. "a bit of a disappointment," The Real Housewives vehicles in Atlanta, Beverly Hills and Miami look promising to him based on their trailers and advanced word.

"It is going to be a challenge to continue making each city and each season unique to the viewer," Vulpo writes. "Bravo, please don't make the mistake of giving us too much of a good thing where we just get so overwhelmed and tired of it all, we shut you out for good."

Erm, here's another reason to fret, Mikey: Bravo's talking about going global with The Real Housewives of Dubai, while The Real Housewives of Athens airs this month in Greece.
