The excuse?

The 42-year-old Orange County father claims he raped his daughter in January 2007 because he was upset with her because he wanted her to lose her virginity in the traditional way, on her wedding night, and he believed she'd already had sex with her boyfriend.
Strike up the banjoes and open up a bag of pork rinds.
Schram told investigating police that because he knew he'd gone too far after tearing off his daughter's clothes, he'd "decided to just 'do it.'"
It must have been mentally torturous to commit incest, no?

"I raped her and I enjoyed it," Schram declared to police, according to court records.
Orange County prosecutors won their case easily because Schram pleaded guilty. After his conviction and trip to a California prison, he had second thoughts. He appealed, claiming that his punishment was too harsh and that all of his crimes (forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by a foreign object, forcible rape, false imprisonment by violence etc) should have been considered a single criminal act.
This week, a court of appeal based in Santa Ana dismissed the appeal as meritless. A three-judge panel decided that he'd "harbored multiple intents and objectives."
As a result, Schram will remain in prison to serve his 20-year sentence.
