Anybody who works and receives a paycheck automatically has taxes taken out, unless their employer is paying them under the table....to assume that Ashley has never paid taxes is absolutely asinine. • @Anon. Sounds like you know something about this. Then you know that when a SSN doesn't match a person's name, the employer gets a notice from the Feds. And what do you think that employer does? They either resolve it (not likely since they know by now that the person is an illegal alien uisng a false SSN), or don't report the wages and withholdings. Even if the employer remits withholdings, it's not for long. So, I'll stand by my earlier statement, that they for the most part illegal aliens are not paying income taxes. And IMO, the root cause of illegal immigration is not illegal employment practices, but lack of enforcement. If they can't get across the border, they can't work.

• Hey CPA... you're full of shit. There are thousands of undocumented workers who use false IDs, including social security numbers. Area numbers in the 800 or 900 series are false ID. Not stolen identification. A false number necessary by every loan application, rental application, job application, etc. These numbers can and will pop up on a credit report. Employees of responsible businesses get paid on a regular basis with personal income taxes, social security, medicare, etc withdrawn from their paycheck. That money gets sent to the Franchise Tax Board and IRS on a monthly or quarterly basis and goes... where? Undocumented workers who work for responsible businesses pay income taxes etc yet they won't be able to file a tax return. Everyone shifts the responsibility on the individual instead of focusing on businesses who BREAK THE LAW. Unless a business is issuing 1099s to all their employees, they should be doing proper payroll procedures. CPA... you know this. We should all be focusing on unlawful business practices. Illegal employment is the root cause of illegal immigration.

• @Americana. Read my earlier post, or this one. Illegals DON'T pay personal income taxes because they don't have a federal tax identification number. They pay other taxes, but not income taxes. As for me not knowing what I am talking about, or as you put it "dumb," I am a CPA who prepares taxes for a living....so shut the fuck up, and gimme large fries with my cheeseburger. Loser.

The same routes used to transport illegals have been taken over by the Drug Cartels who bring levels of violence and intimidation never before seen in the United States. Instead of directly confronting the issues, the Federal Government sits idly by and tries to figure out how to give all the illegals amnesty and convert them to Democrat voters. Tired of inaction by the Feds, Arizona strikes out on their own and passes a law, which I might add is almost identical to one already existing in California (which we do not enforce). Sheriff Joe Arpaio who takes his mandate from the people seriously, has been one of several Arizona law enforcement leaders to address the illegal alien problem. Point the finger and scream about the illegal actions of Sheriff Joe, but the people of Maricopa County, Arizona keep electing him by a landslide. On the Department of Justice, involvement, instead of focusing resources on Drug Cartels and Human Traffickers, here they are attacking Arizona law enforcement. As they will discover before long, DOJ will loose twice on this case. The first loss will be in the court of law and the other in the court of public opinion. Meanwhile, Sheriff Joe will continue to do what he does best, get elected as Sheriff, running an efficient jail system and hooking and booking illegal aliens.

The immigrants send BILLIONS back homw to support family, which could be used in our economy. And the tax payors pay for school, public assistance, and medical care for the illegals.
