Rep. Barney Frank Receives Death Threat After OC Event

Following OC Weekly's Saturday night blog post coverage of protesters at the Orange County Democratic Party event featuring Barney Frank as keynote speaker someone left a death threat comment against the Massachusetts Democratic congressman.

"BF will be shot and dead next time he shows his faggot face in OC mark these Patriot words with caution," wrote a person calling himself "anti-tyranny" on Monday.

We deleted the comment from that post as a violation of our terms of use, but as anonymous death threats against public officials do have news value, we're sharing it with readers here.

After all, if you've graduate from the first grade, you probably already know that it is a serious felony to threaten to murder someone.

Rep. Barney Frank in Buena Park Saturday night.
The openly gay Frank, 70, appeared with his partner and without security guards at the local party's sold out annual Harry S Truman awards dinner in Buena Park.

Frank, who is chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee, also didn't shy away from his sexuality. He introduced his partner, Jim Ready, to the crowd and the couple received generous applause from more than 400 attendees dominated by Democratic Party elected officials, labor union bosses, activists and contributors.

My column on Thursday focuses on Frank's appearance at the event. He championed the re-election of OC Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and berated Republicans for their "extreme" stances and for sabotaging President Barack Obama's economic recovery efforts.

The congressman's aides did not answer their office phone tonight in Washington, D.C.
