Newport Beach Beauty Pageants Go Hollywood

​The brightness of the star is questionable, but Newport Beach's third annual amalgamation of beauty pageants will unquestionably have star power.

The emcee for the Aug. 29 event aboard the yacht Endeavour in Newport Harbor will be Alexis Bellino, who joined The Real Housewives of Orange County cast last season. Film crews will aboard from that Bravo reality series and a documentary called What Is Beauty? by model-actress-filmmaker Shari Bellafonte.

​You may remember her as Julie Gilette on Hotel, Aaron Spelling's nighttime soap on ABC in the '80s--if you don't rememberl her as Harry Belafonte's daughter.

As also reported by the Daily Pilot, pageant judges include Traci Bingham, who played Jordan Tate on Baywatch, and Chelsea Adams of the Bravo show Millionaire Matchmaker.

And . . . that . . . star . . . power . . . fades . . . to . . . black.

Ah, well, at least it's all for a good cause. A whopping 20 percent of proceeds go to Working Wardrobes, a Costa Mesa-based nonprofit that provides professional attire to at-risk women and men seeking employment.

By the way, the crowns up for grabs are Miss Newport Beach Teen, Miss Newport Beach, Junior Miss Newport Beach, Little Miss Newport Beach and Mrs. Newport Beach.
