• I apologize for the multiple posts. I respect freedom of expression, religion, et. al. However, if a politician wants to make an impact , or are persuading a nation that has never had a democracy to take human rights seriously, then there's a level of tactful, thoughtful communication that needs to be used. I've got nothing against Sanchez, I just found it awkward that she addresses HR during this time. Why couldn't she make a fuss when Hilary Clinton and the ASEAN conference was meeting in Vietnam? Why now?

• Irked 1st Generation Vietnamese-American says: "Are there any OC Weekly readers who can recommend Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez a seminar...." Well, there is this here part of the Constitution (what "W" called "just a piece of paper") that seems to address the Congresswoman's right to speak her mind.... Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. And, then there is this part of the Constitution: Article II - The Executive Branch Section 1 - The President .... (Art. II Sec. 2) He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls... It seems as though the "seminar" is a short one - the Congresswoman, as a member of the legislative branch, has no official rights, nor any official duty, to act in the international political arena. Her 1st Amendment Right to express her views are all that she has. So, Irked, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

• How do you expect to get a nation to change if you can't even address their president by their title? You're a punk Sanchez. Are you trying to please your masses/voters? November's only two months away. If you really want to sever ties with Vietnam just so you could gain votes, you're a punk. What happened to your diplomatic skills to negotiate? I now understand why you subject yourself to denial into Vietnam. You want to create a media circus so that OC (extreme, uneducated, immigrant) voters know what you stand for. You're making it hard for everybody including our State Department (i.e. Ambassador) and Federal agencies (i.e. USAID) to help Vietnam become better. You're like that annoying guest at the party who makes a huge fuss and scene because you weren't invited.
