Just when you thought the days of seeing kids running around Frontierland and Adventureland with coonskin caps and cork rifles were long gone, Disneyland Resort has announced that they will resume sales of toy guns.

Despite the controversy, arcade games featuring gun shooting are still in place.
According to the OC Register, Disneyland ceased the selling of the wooden toy guns in 2001 after California law stated that all manufacturers would be required to integrate  an orange-colored ring around the toy gun's barrel in order to make it easier to distinguish between a toy and the real thing.

The Register adds that David Koenig, author of many books on all things Disney and MousePlanet blogger, says that the park began to cut back on the availability of the  1800s-style toy guns after the Columbine High School shootings in 1999.

The new toys, according to the photo posted at the Register, are now colored entirely in orange and green.
