As I recall every time the board of supervisors negotiates a contract with any union or any company doing business with the county the negotiations as I seem to remember are always done in secrecy. We need much better public disclosure! I believe any pension must be based on work performed. so many credits per year, and so much a dollar value for such credits. This is how the building trades do it... I understand many other pensions are similar. Public Officials, ask to be elected to serve the public, they should receive a fair wage, but NOT receive a $100,000+ pension for one or two years service.

• I remember when this pension went in to effect a few years ago the resident of Orange County did not even got a vote cause they now if it had been forced like it should have been it would have been shut down. the controller that took over after the county went bankrupt the 1st time he was warning us about what they were doing and telling us as soon as they start having to pay out these pension the county will go bankrupt again. Santa Ana city council members get $120,000.00 a year for life and all they have to do is show up to work once and there vested 100% they get a private elevator so not to have to mix with us common folk they get a taxpayer bought car gas lodging when they go out of town.

Is that fat, or OBESE, retirement for the top? How does it compare with similar agencies? 18k a month for no work pensions? Seems unsustainable at best. This from the same agency that cut social services while redecorating board of sups offices.. Not nice, but elite greed a the top is not shocking any more.
