And no, we are not in the same world as a century ago, though I would like to point out that almost a century ago our country was in a horrible economic crisis from which many thought we would never recover. Moreover, prior to the Great Depression there were several "Panics" which would today be referred to as "Recessions." Who do you think inevitably bore the brunt of the blame during hard times each and every time ? As I said, the only difference now is that there are stricter immigration laws which allow people like you to feel even more justified in their hatred of anybody who isn't white.

• OC Curtain, Go read up on the history of immigration in this country, especially as pertains to the Italians and the Irish. You sound an awful lot like our fine, upstanding citizens about a century ago who felt putting up signs in shop windows like "Irish need not apply," was perfectly justified. The only difference is that with the changes in immigration law in the past century, you can now look down on a portion of the immigrant population with even more scorn because there is a possibility that they are here illegally.

• Wade, I grew up in Westminster, they now call it "Wedminda". it was a semi-shit hole and got worse. I moved to Costa Mesa because that is what you did in the OC, try to get to Newport or Costa Mesa, where it was a beach city. Now most of Costa Mesa is a real-shit hole because of the illegals, you can't get away from it. Drive by any school in costa mesa and what will you see? • Wow, OC Curtain, you must have had a completely different experience of Santa Ana prior to the 1980s. I grew up there, and I'm old enough to remember very clearly what Santa Ana was like prior to the massive influx of immigrants (both legal and illegal). I hate to burst your bubble, but Santa Ana wasn't really all that nice, even prior to the 80s. It was okay, but the nicer areas were still outweighed by the rough areas.

They've spent over two hundred years oppressing minorities, and as the country becomes more and more ethnically diverse, they're starting to realize that they aren't going to have total, unabashed control of everything, and it scares the shit out of them.
