Kyle McCann and Jason Mathewes Arrested for Being Spectrum's Alleged Water-Bottle Bombers

• please, how stupid your 18 and you don't know that you shouldn't do something so dumb! please and if it was no big deal why run.. that's even dumber.you don't do things like that especially at the spectrum. come on. they new exactly what they were doing.. people and kids all over. they deserve a punishment. and ya i've known both of them for years. and believe me they have done stupid stuff before. i laugh at the parents who say their kids never do anything wrong.jason's parents never let the kid loose. i laugh at the comment above two kids on summer vacation bored wanna have fun hilarious. that's not fun..that's stupidity. if you wanna have fun you don't make water bombs with dry ice. anyone who hears this story automatically thinks the same thing. • you guys should not even be posting these negative comments toward these two i am their age and me and my friends were arrested for exploding dry ice bombs, you have absolutely no say in the matter unless you have done it personally and most of you dont know that the only possible way you can ever cause someone harm with an exploding water bottle is if there was something in it that could fly out and cause damage or if you were holding it while it exploded dont say the cops did a great job because thats all cops do is get psyched for something to happen and the worst thing that happens in Orange County to these guys are water bottle bombs they over reacted and i know they were just doing their jobs but me and my friends were let off with a huge warning because the cops realized nothing happened. So to the people who are taking the cops side you need to realize no one was hurt so lay off these two and its not a reflection of parental upbringing it was two kids bored on summer vacation who want to have fun.

• Ryan and Bobby, I completely agree with you guys, but your profanity isn't helping. Kyle and Jason do not deserve to be treated like terrorists, and their bail is absurd. It was a practical joke that went way to far, and was by far the stupidest decision they have ever made. I know for a fact that they will never do anything remotely similar to what they have done. I do agree that their actions must not go unpunished, but I believe they learned their lesson when they spent a few nights in county jail. Paul Rava, you're over reacting these water bottle bombs are not as "deadly" as you might think. You could be standing directly in front one of these, and the worst that would happen is that you might get wet and your ears will ring for a little bit, because it is very loud. RoqDawg, you said you know the family of one of the boys involved and you're saying that his own family is saying hes an idiot and not a great boy....thats extremely hard to believe, since I personally know both Jason and Kyle along with their families and they have absolutely nothing bad to say about their them.

Driving drunk is way more dangerous than exploding water bottles, but you can walk out of jail the next day, no bail required.

• @RoqDawg.......I tried to find one death resulting from a water bottle bomb. Could you please give me the info so I can read about how these water bottles "kill" people. I am interested in your facts. Also, you are right, they are adults. However, you can drink and drive and are arrested for a DUI. You can later have that DUI expunged from your record. These are young adults that made a mistake, but will never have this incident expunged...kind of crappy if you ask me. Even convicted child molesters eventually leave prison and are free to roam in our society. Guilty or not, jail time is not needed.

• @Paul Rava. Pocession? Try Possession @OC mommy these are adults not boys. I know the family of one of these adults and they are calling him an idiot not a "great boy". With a slight modification these bombs could be made lethal. Give them a slap on the wrist and maybe next time they will modify the bombs and kill several people at the Spectrum. Psych evaluations are needed and so is jail/prison or State Hospital time. And since the family of one of the adults has already told me that he did it I am forgoing the usual wait until and unless proven guilty.

• The security department at the Irvine Spectrum did a great job with helping ipd with arresting these guys. They are being charged with pocession of bomb making materials and possibly terrorism. I hope they go to jail for a long time. These water bombs can hurt you if they blow up near you. And to the author, maybe spell check your article next time and spell two right next time. thanks!

• I personally know both of the boys invlovled in this incident. They are great boys who have never been in trouble before. I hope for a positive outcome for all involved. I agree that the bail seems very excessive....come on IPD get busy and catch the real bad guys!!!!

• Sounds like teenage hijinx to me. Just another over reaction by I.P.D. and the bomb squad. Kids used to do alot more crazy stuff when I was a teenager in the early 80's ! Their million dollar bail is ridiculous as well!
