One of the most popular documentaries at April's Newport Beach Film Festival was Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child, which is about the late artist and Andy Warhol collaborator who became the first international art star of African-American descent.

You can catch Tamra Davis' film in Newport Beach again--and get a tour of Orange County Museum of Art's "18 Minutes of Fame: Portraits From Ansel Adams to Andy Warhol" exhibit thrown in for good measure--if you attend tonight's Cinema Orange screening.

Davis, a noted music-video director who is married to Mike D of the Beastie Boys, previously directed Adam Sandler in Billy Madison, Chris Rock in CB4, Dave Chappelle in Half Baked, Jason Lee in TV's My Name Is Earl and Britney Spears in Crossroads.

The author of a cookbook titled Make Me Something Good to Eat also hosts the web program The Tamra Davis Cooking Show.

After Warhold's death in 1987, Basquiat became increasingly isolated, and his drug use and depression increased. He died of a heroin overdose the next year at age 27.
