Will Trains or Lanes Connect Santa Ana to LA County?

• These lines were laid out in the most practical route as all this area was undeveloped and should not go to waste. It is only logical that it be reconnected to the transit system with light rail connecting to the Greenline or perhaps going all the way to the Blue Line sharing tracks with the Green Line.

• Scott, I would hope not. MTA seems to be doing a good job on what they have now, They have the experience... I actually see this line to be more viable than the HSR line. Really, How much use is the current rail on that same line getting, I would say... not much. Colony, Perhaps my sarcasm was not overt enough. Yes, the HSR will never be diverted, and I doubt it will ever become reality. In looking into my crystal ball I foresee Mayor Curt and the Out of State Contractor indicted for diverting billions of HSR funds to other projects in Anaheim, Perhaps covering $250,000 in impounded vehicle fees allegedly stolen by a police cadet... (funny how THAT story disappeared fast)

• This will NOT be related in any way to the HSR. The LA County MTA already owns this right-of-way. Yes, I believe even the portions of it in Orange County. This will be part of the Los Angeles County Metrorail system. Only makes sense as large portions of the system are also former Pacific Electric red car lines that carried frequent passenger traffic for about 50 years. It will also be part of Mayor Tony's "30/10" package (I think) as part of the "Long Range Transportation Plan" already adopted by Metro. Though I must say, this line (known formally as the West Santa Ana Branch) is waaaayyyy down on the list of projects. The big question I guess is whether the LAC MTA will be allowed to operate train service in Orange County. There is precedence. They have been operating (limited) bus service in OC for decades. Mainly the 450 line that goes to Disneyland. But will the OC government allow a "foreign" transit agency to run actual rapid transit rail service on their hallowed ground? Yeah, I know, Stanton is not exactly Bel Air. But still. Could it be that the line, once constructed, will come to a dead stop at the Orange County line?

• The High Speed Rail spur from L.A. to Anaheim is completely unnecessary. Why spend $5 billion to save less than 10 minutes ? Improve the existing service and connect to the High Speed trains at Los Angeles Union Station.

• Dweezle, I do not think they are going to use this ROW instead of the HSR on Lossan, but rather in addition to that project. No way is Mayor Curt going to let HSR bypass Anaheim. What makes me nuts is that this ROW was available, with no controversy or eminent domain takings, and they did not use it for HSR in the first place. Reason #428 that many of us are convinced HSR was designed for political expedience to bring pork projects to the cities run by those in charge, and has little to do with effectively transporting people.

• Even though I understood the SA Transp Center was closed to save money, The right of way already existing could save millions of tax dollars in right of way purchases and unfair eminent domain takeovers... but, the city of Anaheim would be pretty much left out. I could see possible advantages to the city, (cesspool) of Stanton IF it crosses where I believe it does, (just N of Katella @ Beach Blvd). It also could solve the issues with the Buena Park Condos that are causing some trouble with the plans for the High Speed Rail system Proposed from Anaheim Stadium. It is also a nice strait shot across Central OC not meandering all over North OC. However, I doubt this will be utilized as it does NOT seem very profitable to Disney, the Angels of LA, and Anaheim, and the purse strings are Carte Blanche to the Anaheim Mayor... and current millions already spent are not even accounted for...

• There should be a viable choice. I would love to be able to ride a good public transit option to LAX and avoid the 405 crush.

• It only makes since, reconnecting Downtown Santa Ana, via the Orange Line to the Green Line and Blue Line, gives Orange County Residents as well as Los Angeles County residents,another means of Transportion other then Freeways. Living in Downtown Santa Ana,and being able to travel to Downtown Los Angeles, and Downtown Long Beach via the Blue Line, LAX via the Green Line and Hollywood the Red Line and finally Pasadena via the Gold. WOW! Just think of the possibilities. And just think of all those residents rediscovring Santa Ana and all it has to offer.

• I used to drive from Orange to the green line at Imperial hwy and take it to El-segundo. It seems pretty obvious from the map that it would be a natural extension of the green line to connect an Orange county line.Its electric, clean and gasoline isn't going to get any cheaper. Bill
