One of the sharpest birther-watchers around, David Weigel of the Washington Post, recently swore off any further coverage for Laguna Niguel's Orly Taitz.
"As far as I'm concerned, the Taitz trainwreck ended on Tuesday when she rode a wave of publicity to 26% in California's GOP primary for Secretary of State," Weigel wrote. "When she made the move from freaky celebrity to politics she got rock-solid proof of her irrelevance."
That doesn't mean all the media's stopped paying attention. We, for example, will follow along as her curious neighbors. And MSNBC, no doubt, will continue to foist her up as the incarnation of everything bizarre and awful about the right wing in this country at this moment.
Oh hey, they're doing that very thing tonight. The Chris Matthews-hosted documentary "Rise of the New Right" features Taitz as well as tea-party luminaries like Dick Armey and fringers like Alex Jones. It'll run at 9 p.m. We may just have a review for you afterwards.
