Be Vewy Vewy Quiet, Mission Viejo is Hunting Wabbits

Elmer-Fudd_small.jpg
Elmer Fudd has nothing on the Mission Viejo City Council, which has approved a Palmia Homeowners Association request to allow residents to shoot rabbits with pellet guns.

Bunnies are chewing grass and raiding gardens and must die, claims the association representing a small adult community in the city's northeast.

The Los Angeles Times has the scoop.

The city did impose strict restrictions:

  • Shooting is allowed only a half-hour after sunset and a half-hour before sunrise.
  • Only air-powered pellet guns are allowed. (Eat lead, NRA!)
  • Rabbit exterminators must be hired professionals wearing distinctive clothing like orange vests.
  • These have-pellet-gun-will-travel types must be chaperoned and not need Jack Bauer to tell them to put down their weapon when people are hopping around.

Most of all, the Thumper thumpers must know when it's no longer rabbit season but duck season.

Rabbit season!

Duck season!
