"The OC Registrar's office used to be a joke in terms of tabulating and reporting election results--the slowest in the state. Neal Kelley has done more to change that during his brief tenure . . . "
--Republican operative/lobbyist/blogger Matt Cunningham
writing four years ago at the then-OC Blog (now Red County). Yet in the
first two hours after the poll's closed tonight, Kelley's operation at
the Orange County Registrar of Voters managed to count only about
1,800 votes in the sheriff's race from just 123 of the county's 2084
precincts. At the curtain rate of processing less than one percent of
the vote every two hours, we may know the election outcomes after the Mayans
predicted the end of the world in 2012.
