My Kid Raised by Lesbians is Smarter Than Your Kid Raised by Straights

• If this is true, then why did it take me 8 years to get my bachelor's degree when all the strait parent's kids it usually only took 3 to 4 years to get their bachelor's degree.

• N=78 is a large enough sample without control, hmmm, wow...

• Is this the same study that was funded by PROP. 10 funds??? The same Prop 10 that funds the OC Families Commission, that Matt "JUBAL" Cunningham works for. If so that would be extremely hypocrytical as his wife Laura "Salcido" Cunningham was the spokesperson for PROP 8 the "protect marriage act". Now we know Laura speaks good "Mexican" but is'nt it a little ironic, feeding at both ends? But thats how they like it in Suite C: In BOTH ENDS!

• if the lesbian group in the study is representative of the typical lesbian parental population, and the straight group is also representative, then controlling for in vitro, positive attitude, and other complicating issues would be redundant

• And all this time I thought Matt Coker was a man. I don't think that anyone other than the most absurdly fanatical anti-gay nutcases ever thought lesbians couldn't rear scholastically competent children. Unfortunately, this study is, scientifically speaking, dubious. Claiming a causal connection after controlling for just two of what could be thousands of variables renders the study meaningless. It is no more effective than casual observation, through which most of us have reached the same conclusion. Primary among these uncontrolled variables is the ability of lesbian couples using in vitro to screen the sperm donor for IQ and learning disabilities. "Educational background" may be related to IQ, but it's not the same. Further, couples using expensive fertility treatments are more likely to have a positive attitude toward their children than heterosexual couples who could well end up with kids "accidentally." Other complicating issues: School systems, day care, siblings, extended families, childhood traumas, etc, etc, etc.

• Shouldn't surprise anyone who has ever been in public. Confident, supportive, loving women are almost always better at parenting, so double that effect and you get attentive, smart, and cared-for children. When you're out in public, you often see male "Dads" who are utterly out of their league of competence in managing their children, whether it's in a restaurant, sports event, at the park, wherever. You go, girls!
