Evidence? The last person Pfeiffer emails each night is Allen, who is also the first person he emails when he wakes each morning, the Times story notes.
Why? Because Allen's e-mail tipsheet, Playbook, "has become the principal early-morning document for an elite set of political and news-media thrivers and strivers," wrote reporter Mark Leibovich for the magazine.
According to the story, Allen grew up "apolitical" in Orange County's Seal Beach.
