Tobias Fünke: "Arrested Development Movie Not Going to Happen"

​ In the last ten years, there have been a slew of television shows based in Orange County, but none ever surpassed the short-lived Arrested Development. After three seasons, the FOX sitcom was slashed due to low ratings, despite being critically acclaimed and overly referenced.

So when news of an Arrested Development movie with the complete original cast made its rounds in the entertainment pages, we were stoked: We'd get to find out what happened to the kissing cousins, that Balboa banana stand...

But cue that Charlie Brown music: actor David Cross, who played the much loved Dr. Tobias Fünke, is saying it's not going to happen after all.  

In a recent interview with with Joel Keller of TVSquad.com, Cross shared:

"It's not going to happen. Way too much time it's been (since the show ended)," he told me. "I mean, there's so many people involved. Everyone's doing their own thing, you know. And everybody's aged. It's just not going to happen. I'm sure I speak for everybody when I say we'd love for it to happen, we'd love to work on it, but just I don't think... not going to happen."

Well, to be fair, maybe we should remain hopeful until we hear confirmation from series creator Mitch Hurwitz himself, but until then, we'll have our DVDs and uh, The Real Housewives of Orange County to represent our home on television.
