This Weekend: Mini Gay Days at Disneyland! (And Knott's)

​Who says you've got to wait another whole year for Gay Days at Disneyland?

Organizers of the annual Gay Days event are holding another event this Saturday at Disneyland park, starting at 8 a.m. Meet-ups like the "Big Red Ride" (at 11:30 a.m.), where participants will all climb aboard Disneyland Railroad for a loop around the park, or a group photo session at 2 p.m. in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle are scheduled.

On Sunday, the group will take to Knott's Berry Farm starting at 10 a.m. The two days are scaled down "warm-ups" to the big event held every autumn.

Gay Days Anaheim's official site explains what "mini" Gay Days:
"For many of you, one Gay Day a year just wasn't enough. And we hate to disappoint. So in 2003, we came up with 'Mini Gay Day' which happens exactly six months before the big bash. This year our Mini is getting just a little bit bigger with an extra day. We've added a Sunday visit to our fantastic, new sponsor Knott's Berry Farm!"

While Gay Days are not officially endorsed by Disney (who doesn't endorse any group entering the park), Gay Days organizers say that Disney is "wonderfully supportive" of the event and are involved in all official aspects of the event. Similar Gay Days events are celebrated all around the world at Disney parks, including Paris, Orlando and Hong Kong. The groups choose to wear red (there's even an official shirt available right here) to identify participants, a tradition started by Florida's Gay Days.

Let's just hope that another really depressing fiasco like our "Tweets From the Park: Homophobe Edition" doesn't happen again.
