What Do Pot Dispensaries, Cannabis Cowboys and "Glee" Have in Common?
Glee's talented and sprawling cast is headed by Matthew Morrison, who when he was younger attended Orange County High School of the Arts, which seems as if it inspired the show.
Morrison famously came out straight in December.
His show returns to Fox from hiatus on April 13, and creator Ryan Murphy has promised more music.
The PBS broadcast of Inventing LA: The Chandlers and Their Times, presented nationally by KCET, also earned a Peabody. It was written, directed and produced by Peter Jones.
Other entertainment Peabody winners include ABC's sitcom Modern Family, CBS' The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (specifically the host's interview with Archbishop Desmond Tutu) and HBO's The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.
National Public Radio was honored for its Web site.
The Peabodys recognize achievement and public service by TV and radio stations, networks, producing organizations, individuals and the Internet. The awards are presented by the Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Georgia, which announced the winners Wednesday.
An awards ceremony, hosted by Diane Sawyer, is scheduled for May 17 in New York. The ABC News anchorwoman is also picking up a Peabody for her work on a documentary shot in Appalachia.
