Ruben Maya Gallegos Dies in Custody at Theo Lacy

Ruben Maya Gallegos, 36, of Costa Mesa, never made it to his arraignment Monday to answer to charges that he assaulted two Newport Beach police officers in December.

That's because he died Saturday morning while in custody.

There was no other information released by the Orange County Sheriff's Department than this:

Deputies at the Theo Lacy Facility jail in Orange reported a medical emergency in Gallegos' cell about 4:05 a.m.

He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead.

Committed a crime by entering our country illeagaly and then happens to have a heart attack during his incarceration at OCJ. A complete waste of tax-payers money. His home country would never publish his face for dying on their custody.
