Excellence in Entrepreneurship Awards Ceremony is a Sausage Fest
Also singled out were David Kim of the apartment-owning The Bascom Group of Irvine, biomechanics-simulation pioneer Shawn McGuan of LifeModeler Inc. in San Clemente, Jonathan Ord of automaker industry software firm DealerSocket in San Clemente and, finally, surfer-turned-surf-lifestyle clothier Dean Quinn of O'Quinn Clothing in Huntington Beach.
"The winners, whose companies must be based in Orange County, are chosen for their vision, execution and accomplishments and potential for future succes," Jan Norman writes on the On Small Business blog for the Orange County Register.
Unlike the winners, Norman does not have a penis, and if she did not simply copy her report from the press release and actually attended the awards ceremony in Irvine, she might have noticed what a sausage fest it was.
According to a woman who attended the awards, not only were all the entrepreneurs of the year men, but so were the individual presenters of each award.
And the keynote speaker was 2007 Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award-winner Glenn Stearns, chief executive of Santa Ana-based mortgage lender Stearns Cos.
Oh, well, as the OCBJ reports, at least Quinn thanked a woman for his success, explaining that his wife supported him while he left a lucrative position at Hurley to open up shop in his garage.
Seems like the Mrs. should get half of the award then.
