• Ok, I think perhaps some of you may have read into my earlier remarks. I have absolutely no problem with guys looking for work. I'm sure most would if they went to the trouble of coming into this Country legally would love to work under legitimate circumstances. But that's the whole point, going to the trouble of coming in legally makes all the difference for "bigots" like me. Being willing to work is a good thing, I understand that, I have to feed my family as well. Some are just out of touch on this issue, this Anna says "bigot idiots like me won't let them get the proper documentation", WHAT, that's the difficulty; I would like very much to see them propoerly documented. Who is stopping them from getting proper ducuments? If they approached entering this Country legally there would be a hose of people waiting to help them with there paper work! The problem is that they don't bother; they just sneak in and then expect us to embrace them. I agree with LT who states that rarely do you see a mexican begging for money on the street corner, but I don't think it's a very good strategy to put working Mexicans in the same class as pan-handlers and bums. It's also quite a stretch to claim that the presents of crowds of illegal Mexicans is the only thing preventing us from being another third world Country (delusional). Believe me; we have plenty of decent people here legally willing to keep the burgers turing at McDonalds - if that's what LT is worried about. Look, good people need to survive, I understand that, but if the tables were reversed and millions of American citizens were flooding Mexico looking for work, I don't think they would be treating us anywhere near as respectful as this Country treats them. I'm pretty sure those Americans would be expected to fallow the laws of Mexico! For Anna, I think you misunderstand, God bless people willing to work for a living, that's not the issue. The issue is that everyone should be treated equally under the law; we all have to obey the law. And if you believe in that principle it does not mean you are a HATER. The reason I responded to the original article is that you can't just call someone a hater because they have a different opinion or express concern for a big gathering of men (some illegal) hanging out just down the street from your home. I'm disappointed in editors that resort to calling others they disagree with haters when they have no idea what that person may actually feel. It's just another form of name calling and that is not very helpful.

• THIS IS A BUNCH OF S**** IF YOU GUYS HAVEN'T NOTICE THERE IS RARELY A MEXICAN ASKING FOR MONEY ON THE STREET CORNERS. THEY ACTUALLY ASK FOR JOBS UNLIKE OTHERS THAT STAND IN STREET CORNERS WITH THEIR HANDS STICKING OUT BEGGING FOR MONEY. THEY WORK ILLEGALLY BUT WHO BENEFITS IS THE AMERICAN CITIZENS THAT OFFER CHEAP LABOR. IF IT WASN'T FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND THEIR HARD WORK THIS WOULD BE ANOTHER THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.

• Not all day laborers are undocumented. When down on my luck, I (born in California of European-Native American ancestry) shared a corner with a greencard-carrying Mexican citizen who was also down on his luck. Our luck didn't improve that day, and a job center told us, "We couldn't place you before, so we won't try again."

• Wow Tonk, you're a bigoted idiot. Ever consider the problem is these people WANT to work legally but can't because of a combination of bigoted idiots like you won't let them get the proper documentation to do so and businesses that hire under the table and profit off of their back?

• I believe the originator posted this as a joke, even though the US does have a problem with Illegal's. Think of the USA as a life boat, with so many illegals in the boat, it is sinking rapidly.

• Wow, the double standard promoted by the OKWeekly is starting to bug me! In the mind of a "progressive" all you need to do is see the world from a little different perspective and your automatically a HATER. What if there were 30 white skin-heads hanging around at the dounut shop, you don't thing that would tend to intimidate a local citizen? However, its ok if you're here illegally but not for legal citizens to loiter all day in one place. Legal citizens go to the local job distribution center or join the local union and obtain work from legitimate emplyers who then pay athe taxes. Oh, I forgot, if your here illegally you don't need to pay your taxes! What's good for real citizens should be good for all, we don't have any privileged classes in this Country, at least we are not supposed to. For these men to work here they need to be properly covered by workers compensation, if one of these guys broke a leg on your property, you don't think you would pay! Having an opinion or wanting the same standard applied to all is not HATE, get over it.
