A man of few words

--Though not especially known for wittiness, District Attorney Tony Rackauckas sparked laughter by declining to give a long-winded acceptance speech after the Orange County branch of the California Republican Assembly (CRA) voted without debate on Feb. 20 to endorse his candidacy for a fourth term. Sadly, other candidates didn't heed Rackauckas' advice during the three-plus-hour convention at the Ayres Hotel in Costa Mesa. The CRA is separate and generally more conservative than the Orange County Republican Party.
