Top DA Arrested

According to sources at the Orange County Sheriff's Department, David L. Brent--the veteran prosecutor who runs the district attorney's acclaimed homicide unit--was arrested with his wife on Christmas Day following a domestic dispute.

No other information was available officially, except that Brent was released from custody at Orange County Jail on Dec. 26. The prosecutor did not return a call for comment. Susan Kang Schroeder, the public affairs counsel for the DA's office, said to avoid a conflict of interest the matter has been turned over to the California Attorney General's office for a decision on whether charges will be filed.

A large man with a gentle demeanor and tremendous courtroom skills, the 53-year-old Brent has been a prosecutor for 24 years, conducted more than 50 murder trials, put six killers on California's death row and won a conviction in the sensational kidnap-rape-murder of five-year-old Samantha Runnion.

Arrested on 12/25 and nothing in the media until 1/4? SKS loves writing her OCDA press releases. But is there one to be found on this case?? Nooooo. Should be interesting to see which road this case travels down. Typical OC Shenanigans.
Are you getting paid by someone to publicly defend a law enforcement agency that has allowed the lives of many to be destroyed.... all in the name of politics and self-serving financial agendas? Take off the blinders Mr. Smartass! Former Anaheim PD officer Brad Wagner was charged in 2005... thanks to Wagner's attorney Kay Rackauckas, DA Rackauckas' ex-wife, Wagner's criminal charges have been delayed unnecessarily for almost 5 years... what happened to public safety concerns? Who is monitoring Wagner while his attorney and DA think it is time to start a criminal trial? Normal Joe Smith off the street does not get this type of treatment if he commits sex crimes. Why does Wagner get the special treatment? If you do not think this is a conflict, then you are the loser. Did the DA investigate all the porn that was found in Gerald Stenger's home after his alleged suicide? Or, once Stenger was dead, did the DA feel the pornography did not pose a threat to the public's safety? John Derek Chamberlain was allegedly killed in the OC jail on October 5, 2006, but yet, the DA's office conducted FOUR hearings after Chamberlain's death on 1/26/07, 2/16/07, 2/23/07 and 10/4/07, before finally dismissing the battery against cohabitant charges that were filed against Chamberlain on 7/26/06. Mr. McNary..... you are living in a glass bubble and are clueless about the denied justice in Orange County, California. Hopefully, your livelihood, family and career will never be placed at risk because of the DA's politically-motivated decisions to protect criminals.... all in the name of politics.

APPEARANCE of bias.... POLITICS..... law enforcement....obviously, you have not been denied justice by ongoing conflict of interest violations of the law. If you had, you would understand that POLITICS run Orange County, and the DA knows it!
The DA's office did not pass on pass the Haidl, Spann and Nachreiner, the Sheriff who was convicted of stealing lobsters or the former Anaheim PD Officer Brad Wagner because he wasn't a member of the DA's office. Please, know what you're talking about, first. As in the law, procedures & such.
WOW.... since when does the OC District Attorney's office abide to conflict of interest statutes??????? Susan Kang Schroeder is a walking CONFLICT OF INTEREST from Day One, considering her husband is the political advisor to DA RACKAUCKAS and one of the BIG bullies in the OC Republic GOP who can silence anyone he sees fit, without accountability. One has to wonder why the DA did not pass the Haidl, Spann and Nachreiner prosecution to the California AG's office... or the Sheriff who was convicted of stealing lobsters.... or the former Anaheim PD Officer Brad Wagner still awaiting trial for sexual misconduct.
