But in this age it would be political suicide for any rational representative to go against the status quo on this issue... I find it ironic, A 14 year old boy can be accused of a violent crime and tried as an adult, and serve adult time if (usually when)convicted. If he happens to be poor and falls into gang mentality and is identified as a �gang� member, (I understand under federal guidelines the Boy Scouts can be considered a gang) the sentence will be increased. Now at the same time if this same 14 year old �boy� happens to be seduced sexually by a teacher or other adult, (male or female) he is legally deemed unable to give consent and whether the 14 year old enjoyed the act or did not the adult is a child molester� I believe there is something wrong with this picture, even though it is purely hypothetical with many blanks left blank, it IS possible.

The issue of sentencing people for years and years is ridiculously absurd and its unbelievable that this kind of thing carries this kind of punishment. Not to mention the tax burden of imprisoning a citizen for having consensual sex. These guys (and many, many, many women) who participate (key word PARTICIPATE) in these sexual liasons are doing nothing that is aberrant in the realm of human sexuality. If they are, then why are the 14yo kids not put in prison too? Hmm?! Very odd and makes no sense. People need to wake up and realize teens have sex lives too and theres nothing wrong with exploring that with anyone of any age. Especially when THEY are the ones seeking it out just as often if not more often than the adults who participate in these liaisons.
