OC Deputies Mourn Washington State Cop Massacre

​Outraged by the recent killing of four police officers sitting in a coffee shop near Seattle, officials with the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs (AOCDS) say they plan to donate funds this week for the families of the victims.

In a letter sent to union officials representing the fallen Lakewood officers, AOCDS President Wayne J. Quint said the 1,830 current and 500 retired OC deputies and district attorney investigators offer "our most heartfelt condolences on the evil act befallen upon four of your members."


"All of us at the AOCDS will keep you, your guild membership, police department and community in our thoughts and prayers," wrote Quint. "Hang in there and know the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement will be there for all of you."

According to Quint, his union will meet on Wednesday to formally make the donation.

The Orange County Register's Salvador Hernandez reported this morning that OC Sheriff Sandra Hutchens several weeks ago reminded her deputies that she prohibits "more than a certain number of deputies to congregate in one area during lunch or breaks."

Police detectives have a suspect in the ambush massacre of Sgt. Mark Renninger and officers Ronald Owens, Tina Griswold and Greg Richards, but have not made an arrest.
