Justice Department Probing OC Jail Brutality

• "Officials from the department's Civil Rights Division are seeking to determine whether incidents of violence by jail personnel amount to a pattern of violating inmates' rights, the Sheriff's Department confirmed.." There is no doubt that the U.S. Department of Justice has more than the OC jail to investigate: 1) the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles and its handling of sex abuse crimes; (2) the illegal business and employment practices that have ENABLED religious institutions and employees to escape accountability in a court of law for failing to protect children and employees--all in the name of freedom of religion; (3) acts of retaliation and hate crimes that continue each time a concerned individual reports wrongdoing and/or sex crimes to law enforcement agencies and elected public officials; Based on personal experience, it is my sincere hope that the U.S. Department of Justice also understands the urgency to investigate attorneys and law firms that continue to represent religious institutions, OC Board of Supervisors, law enforcement agencies, public school districts and the politically-connected, SIMULTANEOUSLY, with a total disregard for legal, financial, religious, government and personal conflicts of interest. Investigating the death of John Derek Chamberlain will not resolve any problem. Why? Despite Chamberlain and others who have died in the OC jail, the Board of Supervisors and County of Orange attorneys continue to ignore the civil rights of citizens, without accountability. OC Sheriff Hutchens, OCDA Rackauckas and the OC Board of Supervisors have had years of opportunity to protect children, employees and families. But, like in Chamberlain's case, for some reason, those with the authority to do the right thing prefer to hand out $500,000 or $2.5 million dollar settlements (amount changes regularly) to Chamberlain's father and other families, with hope of hiding the truths from the public. And yes, the attorneys recommending expensive settlements are the same attorneys who violate multiple conflict of interest statutes. Good luck to the U.S. Department of Justice. We can only pray that innocent individuals are not run out of town, murdered, harassed or forced into a life of crime, because public officials prefer to play the ostrich.
