Fantastical visions of what the future might possibly be like has kept
children's imaginations--and art projects--going for years. In
"Battlestar Abstractica," held at the co-op art space Nomadic Image,
artists create futuristic worlds inspired by fantasy and science
fiction through photography--a slightly more restrictive process than
Crayolas and construction paper. Some images include surreal Cambodian
landscapes, Mexican "illegal aliens" attacking Guadalajara, an
exploration of a sunken city and even a little steampunk. Oh, and lots
of stormtroopers.
