• Maulk shows his arrogance in the way he parks but even more so in his response when confronted about it. Orange Co. is full of arrogant fat cats like Maulk and the bos. As long as the county continues to be dominated by the repressive republican party we will continue to have leaders like the current bos and their lacky, Maulk. Any county employee who has voted republican in a local or national election has nothing to complain about. You got what you voted for. When the Democratic party pushes for rights and benefits for the common person it is branded as "class warfare". • I work for SSA and have for 13 years. I am a dedicated employee but get nothing in return. My husband and I are on the verge of losing our home. Mr Mauk is STEALING money from my family. HE hasn't given up 80 hours of pay. HE will not lose his home. HE should have been willing to give up just a few of his perks so that those of us who struggle to keep our heads above water would not suddenly be drowning!

Supervisor Bats then told county workers that they would just have to "reach deeper," meaning that they would have to get their work done on their own time since their hours and staff were being cut although their duties are not being equally cut -- which is an illegal order. Then we have Moloch [Wikipedia: ... any person or thing which demands or requires costly sacrifices] abusing his authority in sending out self-aggrandizing e-mails telling county employees to mindlessly repeat the mantra "We believe in our elected officials..." because -- wait for it -- THAT IS A GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE! Now that you have recovered from your hysteria of laughter over the concept that Moloch knows a good business practice, consider for a moment that the same BOS and Maukery are making county employees sacrifice because BOS/Maukery made the choice to buy a large facility that they could not afford. Ergo, the county employees are themselves buying this facility for the county, while the BOS/Maukery perks go untouched. So all of Orange County is now a Maukery -- employees and taxpayers alike.

He could have solved the budget problem months ago by a county wide furlough, cutting some executive perks, and removing some of the layer upon layer of upper level management. But instead, he and the Board created a special tax to protect one department from cuts, and put all the weight on SSA and Probation. Social Services is now, more than ever, needed for the hundreds of thousands of laid off private sector workers. But Mauk doesn't care about the public. He doesn't care about his own workers. He certainly doesn't care about abused children, the poor, the elderly, the sick or the unemployed. He doesn't care about anyone but his rich buddies and himself. Let me tell you what his parking retardation shows. It shows that the law means nothing to him, or to the Board of Stupidvisors. It shows that he believes himself to be above the rules of society. It shows that he thinks he is BETTER than the other people of Orange County. As others have said, he is a failure at his job. He failed. The primary job of the CEO is to plan for the worst, hope for the best and keep your eye on the ball. Mauk failed. He should be canned like a tuna, and sent packing, but instead, he gets free lunches, free gas, free cars, taxpayer paid retirement and copious amounts of bootlicking from his legion of peons who blog for him at the OCR on County time. I'm actually glad he doesn't come into my office. I would be very hard pressed not to key his pimpmobile, or tell him off to his fat, red, arrogant weasel face. The man truly is lower than any scum this county has seen. He took a county recovering from bankruptcy and ran it into the fiscal sewers, and now he arrogantly thinks he's the victim of people out to get him. Truly, the man is completely ignorant and clueless. Fire this sleazy scum.

• It's ridiculous how the Social Services Agency is the ONLY agency that was forced to take work furlough days. (2 days off each month without pay!!) This has taken a great toll on Social Workers.....but no one seems to care.....Morale is in the toilet-----and I must say that I hope that the crap goes full circle and comes back to bite Mauk and the BOS! Ridiculous, ------- management should of had every county employee take one furlough day-----(spread the pain/sacrifice around), that way Social Workers would not be the only ones sacrificing, all county employees would----be giving up some cash------but that makes too much sense----that way the savings to the county would actually be more significant!! p.s. an ESCALADE costs more like $40,000 to 50,000!! (basic Chevy trucks are close to $30,000!

• It would not do any good for Mr Mauk to care about what we think, he is controlled by the Federal & State government. They make the laws saying we have to dish out all this money. Only catch is, we have to spend it before we get it back from the state and the Federal gov, and guess what, they have not had it to pay it back. Our pockets are empty, shut the welfare doors. At least shut them on Thurs and Fridays. Then gradually on Mon, Tues, and Wed. too. Have handouts at the door, directing them down south. It is only a little over a hundred miles, they make it up here, they can make it back. .

• He is "big daddy" financially, however, we have to strangle the spending at the Federal level, and stop letting the politicians tell us they are cutting the budget. Most of what he can do is watch the money go by....more and more and more to all the people here on amnesty. We now have the result of being "Mexico" here in California. Welcome to it. The best thing that would have happened at the state and federal level, is the scissors taken to the budget. We need to cut all help to those born here of parents whom are born here. Let them go back to Mexico for all their aid. I now here that our Federal gov is going to aid the Mexico country for them to aid the people in their country, so they will stay there. How do you like that for financial spending cuts. Disgusted with politics. When we come to the poles in May we need to vote no on any loans and any spending. Let them cut out the aid and send them to Mexico.

• Well, I for one am not going to give that hunk of green, gosh, I thought they wore tan uniforms, I will have to go look on my break. Anyway, I am not going to give him reason to pull that gun. He might do more than sit there. I have seen them give at least warning tickets, and I am sure I have seen them give sitations for parking too long in the limited parking. The big hunker trucks cannot squeeze into the little parking spaces on county lots. So they have to be excused.

• I guess we have to have someone at the top to blame all this financial spending on. Certainly is not on my salary, nor my retirement. The public has the opinion that we all have the big pension, the big salary, not so, only a few at the very top have all this. Most of us cannot even afford to retire, this is why we have so many people working past 65 Oh, and we are tax payers, too. So in fact we also pay our own salary. Our accountant, not mentioning a name for competition in this article, speaks of cutting the employees salaries to save the tax payer as if we are not tax payers. Get off it, and come up with a sound solution. This is all just a bunch of bull.

• I am a County employee, too, and I am too busy working to know what Mr Mauck does. However, I too park in an Orange County parking lot. One day I went to the post office on my lunch, came back and had to park in the far side of the parking lot, on the way walking into the building, I counted 5 cars parked over the line and therefore another car could not park in the space that they should have parked in. I called the motcho County sherrif that is suppose to take care of our building, and he did nothing. He has the right to issue parking tickets, but did not. Has on other occassions for less offenses. So it seems more people than Mr Mauck has a need for retaking the drivers test. Most of the replies for problems is, well they have a language problem, no excuse when it comes to parking, there is no sign. We need to have driving tests to allow parking in our parking lots.
