I've only visited Foothill High in SanTana (but shush, don't say what city it's located in!) once, and I can't even remember the occasion. But I'm thinking of them right now, after another night of one of my favorite current television shows, Lost. One of its main protagonists, John Locke, grew up in Orange County. In the scene below, young Locke is seen getting stuffed in a locker during high school.
Notice anything weird? The high school in question is Cowin Heights High, and their mascot is the Knights. Foothill High is near Cowan Heights, and its mascot is the Knights. Why did Lost producers change the name and school colors of Foothill High, and what's with the misspelling of Cowan?

Being that Lost is a show built around a plane falling out of the sky because a button wasn't pressed every 108 minutes, a smoke monster that hides in the jungle, then waits to slam you against trees, a time traveling island, the ageless Richard Alpert, a need for constants, Walt's bird-killing powers, the eerie Mrs. Hawking, ghost whispering Miles, Jacob, a haunted Hurley, Locke's ability to walk again after being pushed out of an 8-story building, only to arrive on a magical island where Sawyer will later kill his dad (who, coincidentally was the man that also ruined Sawyer's childhood) inside of a slave ship in the middle of the jungle, and let's not forget Locke's rise to power after traveling back to the 1950's to tell Alpert to look him up.....I think my suspension of reality can overlook this snafu.
Never, ever, question the greatness of Lost again ;)
I went to that school, its boundaries reached deep into Santa Ana back in the late 60s.
Gustavo
I am a Santa Ana girl born and raised.
I just moved to Tustin with my husband a couple years ago.
Locke is my favorite character. I don't know if you can see my email address but it is for him.
I just love that he is from Tustin.
If you are a Lost freak like me. You would discover that Locke lives on San Juan St.(which of course is a real Tustin street his house number is not real it is Lost numbers)
I live on San Juan St so I think this is just too funny.
Sorry for not having the YouTube up properly earlier.
Danielle: I've never seen ANYONE express pride in being from Tustin. Nothing against the townI think it's underrated in the Orange County galaxybut still!
Also: Locke RAWWWWWWWWKS!
I do not think the Lost producers have anything against Foothill. Maybe Foothill did not want their school name used.
So they used the area(misspelled) as the school name and included the Knights.
I dont care really. I just love that my favorite character is from my city.
ps..Locke did not just grow up in Orange County. He grew up in Tustin.
Coinkidink maybe but i was just there last night to watch my niece play. She is on the Varsity b-ball team #5 Paulina Solis (shameless plug). I had to rewind my dvr to mack sure i heard correctly.
Two memories of Foothill High, which is in an unincorporated area with a SanTana mailing address, despite being a part of Tustin Unified School District.
First, the cheer that taunted other schools by pointing out the wealth in their neck of the woods.
Second, the outcry when an assistant football coach hosted a kegger for some of the team, and they all were suspended and couldn't play. A column in the Tustin News drew fire when the writer sided with the head coach and administration, messages had the tinge of "we're rich so we can break the rules".
