Board of Supes Invite Pedo-Priest Apologist To Give Invocation This Monday**

What is it with the Orange County Board of Supervisors and their love of pedophile apologists? In 2006, Third District Supe Bill Campbell tried placing Monsignor John Urell, the right-hand man of Diocese of Orange bishops for a good decade of their sex-abuse scandal, on the county's human relations commission until molestation victims raised rightful holy hell. Now, an addendum to this Monday's BoS agenda currently lists Monsignor Lawrence Baird as giving the invocation at 9:30 in the morn.

Baird is a notorious figure in the Orange diocese's sex-abuse scandal. As its longtime spokeshole, it was his job to deny any scandal to reporters and spin, spin, spin when confronted with reality. Most notoriously, he called Michael Harris, the former principal of Mater Dei and Santa Margarita high schools, an "icon to the priesthood" to reporters after Harris had quit the latter job in 1994 even though the Orange diocese already knew at that point that Harris--who was battling sex-abuse lawsuits--liked teenage boys.

But what has guaranteed Baird a hot spot in the afterlife is his treatment of sex-abuse victims. When one of the innocents savaged by Eleuterio Ramos--the worst pedophile in the history of Orange County--tried calling the Orange diocese for help in paying for his therapy sessions, Baird basically told him to fuck off. In a 1993 Orange County Register story, he accused Mary Grant--who had won a $25,000 settlement against the Orange diocese because John Lenihan had admitted to molesting her when she was a teen in the 1970s--of "sensationalism" for daring to make her story public. And Baird sued another Lenihan victim, Lori Haigh, in 2002 for defamation after she accused him of making sexual advances toward her 20 years earlier. Not only did a judge dismiss the lawsuit, but he ordered Baird to pay Haigh's court fees, which years later remained unpaid.

I guess The Liberal OC publisher Chris Prevatt is right--the Board of Supervisors is composed solely of pendejos.

I do not understand your anger, people! The Catholics are strong in the California only because of the Mexicans. The various historical abuses of the indigenous people are well documented in all Catholic's missions erected throughout the southland. Go visit them. i just called Campbell's office to complain and his about his choice office apparently is unsure if this pedo-proest is giving th invocation. They then transferred me to the clerks office for confirmation and that office, did confirm. I called Cambell's office again and, of course, no one has an answer but I was able to lay into them again on the voicemail for his chief of staff pendejo. Go to hell, pinche bola de cabrones.
The OC Board of Supes only care about the politically-connected and wealthy donors that will assist them in holding on to their power and authority in the OC. The OC Supes have known for YEARS that sex crimes against children were committed without investigations or prosecutions in a court of law. The Supes ignore reports of legal conflicts of interest and other violations of the law month after month, while they all pretend they are acting in the interests of the children, adults and families in Orange County. NOTHING IS FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! Too bad there is no one powerful enough to launch a recall of the Supes for their abuses of public office. If Carona goes down, then the Supes and the OC District Attorney should join them.

Who is thd Diocese of Orange's flack, now? Many years ago, before retiring from journalism, I applied for the job and was rejected for not having journalistic and PR experience. Maybe it was because good news reporters try to stick withthe facts, rather than put a spin on things. Continuing as a newsman in the OC, I was never able to reach "Father Larry" when I nneded him...oddly, the Bishop before Brown was accessible when his mouthpiece was not.
Well, yet again, victims get another slap in the face ... Why does it always fall upon the victims and the media to make sure that bad guys aren't coddled by the Board of Supes? Do these elected officials not read the paper? Do they not understand the crimes that have endured within their districts? Oh wait, I forgot ... if we call attention to the crimes, Msgr. Baird will call us names and belittle us even more. And before anyone says that I have some kind of vendetta against the Board, just look at the history. ... a lovely woman named Casteix was their official Clerk for a million years.
