"Yes . . . yes"
--Indicted ex-Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona's defense team tried to prove in trial today that a wealthy Carona campaign contributor's relative, serving a jail sentence, had not received preferential treatment, but Kim Markuson--onetime assistant sheriff for OC jails--provided the aforementioned answers to federal prosecutor Brett Sagel when asked if Carona's sheriff's department violated two specific provisions of a court order that gave preferential treatment to the contributor's relative who was allowed to leave custody for personal business.
