Accused Saddleback High Molester Ordered To Stay Away From Schools for at Least Three Years

The case of Saddleback High special-ed assistant Alonso Manuel Gonzalez--arrested Nov. 17 on charges he sexually molested a student at the SanTana high school--continues. Today at an arraignment hearing in Orange County Superior Court, Judge Cheryl Leininger allowed Gonzalez to remain free on $25,000 bond and set a Jan. 13 preliminary hearing on the case. The dour-looking Gonzalez didn't offer a plea; instead, he stood quietly as Leininger issued a protective order for discovery, required Gonzalez to "stay away from the victim" (Leininger's words, not mine, so I'm not putting in the mitigating "alleged" in front of the word) and turn over any weapons he may possess. But the whopper: Gonzalez can't set foot on a school campus for three years unless a judge says otherwise. Maybe all of this is standard protocol in molestation cases, but something smells rotten in the Banana Republic, and it ain't the strewn trash off Standard... and betcha Saddleback High administrators say nothing about this case to parents!

" What kind of job or qualifications do you have to make such claims? In my experience, it is very rare for a person to get arrested for lewd conduct with students. The police tend to do a good job of evaluating the situation. In this case of Alonso, the judge seems to think that he is a continual threat and he cannot even set foot on a campus for three years unless released by a judge. I'll tell you who I think the real criminals are: Esther Jones and Evelyn Carrigg. Both knew what this man was capable of doing and they hid him in different classrooms and intimidated other employees to keep quiet when he was inappropriate with the students. Everyone on that campus knew he was a menace - from the cafeteria staff, DSOs, custodians, teachers, assistants, parents and even visitors. There were complaints that he even harassed the Mac Arthur students coming home from school. He'd go stand out by his car that he parked right next to the sidewalk, and he would "change his shirt" right there in the parking lot while he eyed the junior high school students going home. The enablers should be held accountable. Those are the ones that think they are so smart that they'll be able to outwit the police and circumvent judges and prosecutors with their flimsy lies.
I don't know what the actual percentages are but I tell school employees that 99% of the accused school employee molesters are found innocent after an investigation. Usually the children were making baseless allegations because of some perceived slight or offense by the school personnel. It is the rare person who is actually guilty and the police do an excellent job with their investigations in determining likely guilt or innocence. Needless to say even being accused is devastating in this 'guilty until proven innocent society' we live in so the need for confidentiality is paramount until the person is cleared or charged in the case. Lets not make victims out of innocent people accused of some heinous act, let the police do their job. We can try them in the court of public opinion after they are charged (actually we should wait until they're proven guilty, but hey, what fun is that?) and not before.
You're right, Charlotte, this is crazy. Every parent should have been notified, the information should be on the school and district websites and there should be counselors on site to talk to students. But ... alas, it is easier to pretend like it never happened. At least Gonzalez is seeing the inside of a courtroom.
Have the parents at the school site been informed about what has gone on? This is crazy. Why isn't this man locked up?
Well, I guess the liars in administration over at Saddleback who claimed that Gonzalez would be back in January of 2009 are looking like the fools that they are.
I sure hope this Gonzalez creep isn't a flight risk, from OC. I say this because depending on what exactly the judged specified by "can't set foot on a school campus...", I can see that asshole using his twisted mind to try and find a loophole around the judge's edict, so that he can find other schools where he can be a predtor.
