• I am trying to reach Jennifer Mena Delson because of a similar problem experienced by Isaiah House in Santa Ana. I read her articles and believe she may be able to help the plight of our disabled tenants who are being forced on the street by the city. • I met Delson when she interviewed me for a story on vigils for slain youth in Santa Ana that I was part of in 2007. She is a great reporter. She'll be missed. -j

• I worked at the Times' Orange County office for a while. I can tell you that the staff has dwindled and so has the energy. Jennifer was a ray of hope in the place. Always on the move and always offering to help me get a lay of the land. Frankly, she was one of the few people who even noticed I existed. The LA Times has lost a great reporter.

• I have the fondest memories of Jennifer Delson. She was one of the first reporters to interview me during the preparation of the Minuteman Project prior to its launch at the Arizona/Mexico border in April 2005. I have nothing but compliments for her honorable adherrence to the professional canons of journalism during her time at the L A TImes. Her objective, unbiased articles, based on very professional interview skills, led me to greatly favor the L A Times over the propagandists and "dirty" journalists on the staff of its competitor, the Orange County Register. • Each and every one of the positive characteristics attributed to Jennifer by the previous posters are the reason she was let go. I hope her dismissal is due to financial troubles most print media are experiencing. I hope her dismissal is not in response to her ability to criticize and her ability to shine the light on questionable local governmental actions. I have heard it is the latter. Does any one have knowledge of this?

• Boneheads. That's all I can say. In a time when newspapers around the country are in turmoil over a loss of revenues, the LA Times lets go of their top OC reporter. There is only one reporter in the OC office that speaks fluent Spanish. You see her out on the streets talking people, no matter their status. They all get her respect. No other reporter has the intimate knowledge of Santa Ana and the Latino community like Jennifer Delson. So why would they let her go? I think if Sam Zell had intimate knowledge of this, he have one of his infamous fits. Like I said Boneheads. Go figure. Hey Gustavo why don't send this directly to Zell.

• Jennifer Delson was an amazing reporter. You would see her at 8 in the morning at the Mexican consulate and at a Minuteman event at 8 at night. She was tireless and I always knew she was under appreciated at the Times but you could tell she didn't care. She just worked her tail off. She has left a legacy. The Times has again shown it has no respect for our community.

• Jennifer Delson is absolutely the best reporter I have ever known. She is smart,clever,creative and writes with such an interesting flair both in spanish and english. Why in the world would the LA Times EVER ALLOW HER TO LEAVE??? I guess I won't be renewing my subscription.

• One more reason to dump the Times. Delson is the BEST! I am sure she will land a great job somewhere. But it is a real blow to lose her as a reporter. Papi does indeed win this time...

• Jennifer Delson is a true investigative reporter. She is intelligent and fair - that is she shows the reader both sides of an issue. I truly think she is one of best LA Times reporters! I shall miss her well written and always interesting articles!

• It's incredible to me thats the Times would not keep its only Spanish speaking reporter in Orange County. Just goes to show how ignorants they are about local journalism and how willing they are to let their subscribers down. Delson has also written about twice as many stories as any other reporter in that bureau and knows her way around Santa Ana like noone else.

• Sorry to see Sunday's Hot Property column may vanish (always fun to read about the excesses of the excessive), but I surely won't miss Ms. Ruth Ryon's tortured syntax. She took the standard "between the commas" routine of obituary writers (Joe Schmo COMMA who blah blah blah and blah blah blah but was mostly famous for blah blah blah COMMA died Wednesday etc) to bizarre and sometimes hilarious extremes in her Hot Property intros. Reading them made me wanna scratch myself. If the departure of Kevin Crust (school of Kevin Thomas film critiquing - the plot, more plot, even more plot) means more Carina Chocano, then c'est bon. Tho Enquiring (& Weekling) minds do wanna know something: Where's the new Manohla Dargis (OCW group/LAT's loss, NYT's gain)?

• I worked with Jennifer as one of the first "interns" (read: unpaid peons) at the LA Times' OC office. She is the sole Spanish-speaker at the bureau and took on, every day, the momentous task of covering more than a third of the OC's population. She took me under her wing and let me follow her around Santa Ana, reporting on various stories and nabbing interviews on the street. The Times' is losing a fantastic reporter who's built up a wealth of insight into a complex city. Good luck, Jenny!
