OC talent gets its kicks in the MLS playoffs

Categories: Main

While most of the country keeps its attention on football, there are those of us who also enjoy the unbridled, over-the-top passion of futbol.

With the Major League Soccer playoffs just around the corner (they start this Thursday), it is only fitting to give props to the OC natives who are representin'. So here's a partial list of some of the talent that will be appearing in the MLS playoffs courtesy of the Orange County soccer scene:

David Arvizu (Chivas USA)
Position: Forward/ Hometown: Santa Ana, CA

Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA)
Position: Defense/ Hometown: Los Alamitos, CA

Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA)
position: Midfield/ Hometown: Huntington Beach, CA

Jorge Flores (Chivas USA)
position: Forward/ Hometown: Anaheim, CA

Tyson Wahl (Kansas City Wizards)
position: Defense/ Hometown: Newport Beach, CA

Eric Ebert (Houston Dynamo)
position: Midfield/ Hometown: Irvine, CA

Zach Wells (Houston Dynamo)
position: Goalkeeper/ Hometown: Costa Mesa, CA

Remember folks, soccer, I mean, fútbol is no longer just for the Old World and the Third World. It has become an increasingly important part of the American sports scene since the '90s (does the 1994 FIFA World Cup ring any bells?).
