Though Electric Daisy Carnival has been around for two years longer than Ultra Music Festival since it's inception in 1997, for many years Ultra has been considered the largest and best electronic dance music festival in the United States. It won the International Dance Music Award for "Best Music Event" for almost six consecutive years only to be beaten out by Tomorrowland in Belgium in 2012 and 2013. However, EDC promoters Insomniac Events have won the "Best Event Promoter" title for the past two years and are reaching new heights with a recent Live Nation partnership. Today EDC is a touring festival like Ultra with stops in New York, Chicago, Orlando, Puerto Rico, London and it's main event in Las Vegas. We made the pilgrimage to Miami in March for UMF and Las Vegas for EDC a couple of weeks ago and decided to take a stab at the question on every EDM devotee's mind. Which is better EDC Las Vegas or Ultra in Miami?

Ultra Music Festival is a zoo.

From land sharks to killer whales, pink flamingos to African zebras, UMF 2013 is starting to feel a lot like a World Wildlife Foundation fundraiser, complete with endangered species and cuddly critters.

Sure, they're inflatable. But try explaining that to someone rolling face. After all, it was in downtown Miami where a young woman dry-humped a tree before ultimately slapping it for reasons unknown last year during Ultra.

Attention, ravers: The inflatable chimp won't hurt you! He is your friend. He loves you. He loves everybody.

Check out some of our favorite inflatable props at Ultra 2013.

With the rise of the ubiquitous Internet, street fashion trends rolled in, heavy and dark like a storm cloud, over the style world. Instead of dressing sorta like supermodels on the catwalk, we had to start wearing exactly whatever some fashion editor in Italy was sporting.

There's something so liberating about going to an event like Ultra Music Festival. Certainly, each year, some looks are more "in" and some are more "out," but there is a lax unity, an agreement, that you can get away with wearing whatever you want. You don't have to fake looking like Alexa Chung, you can kandi or bro, or you can just you.

Even so, there are things that uniformly trended this year at Ultra. And we took note of the top seven fashion statements of 2013.
