It's a catastrophe of riches! (That's what my friend said once when attempting to say "an embarrassment of riches." I'm trying to make it catch on.)
Lots of shows coming to the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, including Ra Ra Riot (who produced one of Village Voice Media's top 10 indie rock albums of 2008, link forthcoming), Atlanta's ever-exciting Black Lips and Orange County's own Death by Stereo. Also: Nickel Eye, featuring Nikolai Fraiture of the Strokes. It's like all the Strokes have their own bands now!
Full deets and a fun (?) video after the jump.
Jan. 30: The Submarines, Morning Benders ($10) Jan. 31: Nickel Eye, Low vs. Diamond ($13) Feb. 12: Death by Stereo ($10-$12) Feb. 21: Fu Manchu ($10) March 2: Ra Ra Riot (not on sale yet, apparently) March 7: Delta Spirit ($12) April 15: Black Lips ($15)
All tickets (except for Ra Ra Riot, at this point) on sale at detroitbar.com. "Brighter Discontent" by The Submarines was used in the fourth season finale of "Nip/Tuck," it was a pretty bad season but the song is real good. Here's the video from the show. It's pretty goofy.
