Top 13 Hottest Phish Phans at Hollywood Bowl

Christopher Victorio/OC Weekly

Yesterday's Phish show meant that Hollywood was invaded by Phans from all over the country touring with the Vermont band, and in some ways it was a pretty spectacular return to SoCal.

While they did play a three-day fest in Indio two years ago, last night was the first Hollywood Bowl show Trey Anastasio and company had ever played. (And the band that hippie bros love hadn't been back to SoCal since 2003.)

And the Phish lot is usually the same everywhere--people hanging out and having fun, pregaming with fruit, gatorade, drugs and hula hoops (you didn't necessarily have to partake, but it was definitely there). And amid  calls of "Where's my molly?" and index fingers raised high for "miracle tickets wanted," tickets being given away as freely as joints and edibles were hot Phans...check them out after the jump.

Will there be a riot? We don't know. Will they tear up the field and start throwing around the grass? We don't know. Will they start eating the grass? No one knows for sure. One thing we do know is what they'll look like--here's our handy dandy guide to spotting the average Big 4 fan.

Sublime's Soundscape: Follow the Long Beach Band's Song Way

Sublime

  • CLICK THE MAP TO ENLARGE!
In this week's cover story, you can read about how Sublime evolved into Sublime with Rome, 14 years after Bradley Nowell died. How Sublime--deeply rooted in Long Beach's iconography--made their mark on the city is part of that story.

Sublime loved Long Beach--you can tell from their songs, which refer to street names, neighborhoods, bars and stores... lovingly or not.

"What I Got" proclaims "Sublime style's still straight from Long Beach," while "April 29, 1992" cites specific places in their hood. (Did you know that Ons Liquor Store is now A & Cherry Liquor at 1934 E. Anaheim?) Beyond song lyrics and memories, Sublime made their physical mark locally at record stores and clubs that are now long-gone.
